Workbench is the general term for a surface which serves as a safe, sturdy, efficient workspace. They are great for many types of work. Most of us think of the standard, multi-purpose, garage workbench, which can be an excellent fit for a number of projects. How many? Let us count the ways.
Multi-Purpose Workbenches A work bench gives you a perfect surface for doing household repairs, and clamps allow you to safely secure the item in order to use both hands. You can clean, sharpen, polish, or cut anything that needs to be cleaned, sharpened, polished, or cut. You can work on electronic equipment or model kits. Anything that says "assembly required" also requires an accompanying workspace. Many women work at portable workbenches, but many others may want one and not even know it. These can be the perfect workspaces for stamping, scrapping, and other arts and crafts. (It beats the kitchen table, or trying to find a good scrapbooking spot upstairs.) | ![]() |
Do-It-Yourself Projects
We've established that a home workbench will get plenty of use in nearly every home, but it's truly a necessity for any dedicated do-it-yourselfer. These are the people who will truly take advantage of such a space, and use it most often. Woodworking and other minor carpentry projects cry out for a safe, efficient workspace, and a place with which to store tools. People who enjoy working with their hands should be free to enjoy doing so, without the stress of where to work and how to do it safely. You want to spend your time working, not setting up. A good garage workbench allows you the freedom of focusing on the job.
